Christian Fascism in the 20th Century and present-day USA
What is Christian Fascism? - It is exactly what it sounds like -
It is a subset of Religious Fascism - it is related to the Islamo-Fascism of ISIS, al-Qaeda, and the Taliban; it is similar to the Shinto fascism of Japan in the 1930’s and 40’s, and the Buddhist nationalism of Sri Lanka and Myanmar, and the clerical authoritarianism of Iran, and the monarchist theocracy of Saudi Arabia, and the clerical fascism of Zionism in Israel.
Christian Fascism is a political ideology that merges fascist authoritarianism with fundamentalist Christianity.
Christian Fascism believes the national leader has divine authority, because they were ‘chosen by God.”
Christian Fascism’s goal is to “purify” a nation by making it 100% Christian, it regards Christians as the only “true citizens.”
Christian Fascism regards outsiders (people from other religions & atheists) as threats to the moral and cultural purity of the nation.
Christian Fascism presents their political struggles as holy battles between good and evil, between their God-sanctified ideas and their opponent’s Satanic viewpoints.
Christian Fascism justifies violence because it claims it is battling the Devil.

Christian Fascism was rampant 80-100 years ago
Portugal from 1932–1974 was ruled by a devout Catholic, the dictator António Salazar. The Catholic Church supported his fascism.
Spain from 1939–1975 was controlled by another devout Catholic, the dictator Francisco Franco. The regime called itself a “Catholic State” and was supported by the Vatican.
Austria from 1933–1938 was a Catholic authoritarian state that promoted Catholicism as a core component of Austrian identity.
Nazi Germany - 1933–1945 - was rooted in racial paganism, but many Christians collaborated. Lutheranism was fused with Nazi ideology, preaching Aryan supremacy as Christian destiny. Nazi propaganda frequently portrayed Hitler as chosen by God.
Croatia from 1941-1945 was ruled by the Ustaše, a fascist state supported by Catholic clergy - The Ustashe forced Orthodox Serbs to convert to Catholicism.
Slovakia from 1939–1945 was ruled by a Catholic Nationalist party with a priest (Jozef Tiso) as head of state - he was defined as chosen by God.
Hungary from 1920-1944 was Christian, nationalist, racist, authoritarian, and brutal. Over 400,000 Jews and Roma were deported or executed to “purify” Hungary.
Let’s examine the USA now, 80-100 years later - Does Christian Fascism exist in our homeland?
YES
Multiple USA leaders have displayed Christian Fascist tendencies. Here’s thirteen.
Pat Robertson the Christian Coalition founder, wanted the USA to be governed by biblical law.
Jerry Falwell, Founder of the Moral Majority, wanted to transform America into a Christian nation.
R.J. Rushdoony was a Christian theologian. He wanted the USA to be governed by Old Testament biblical law with the death penalty for homosexuality, blasphemy, and adultery.
George W. Bush - used evangelical Christianity to justify military intervention after 9/11. He referred to “Gog and Magog” and the Book of Revelations as inspirations for his foreign policy.
Ron DeSantis the Governor of Florida has been accused of trying to create a Christian Florida with his policies.
Mike Pence wanted America to be a nation “under God” and he often framed opponents as spiritually dangerous.
Donald Trump is embraced by many Christian nationalists as a messiah figure.
Michael Flynn – The former National Security Advisor has called for “one religion in America”
Steve Bannon – Trump strategist - has a Catholic nationalist worldview.
Charlie Kirk challenged pastors to reclaim the country for Christ, he framed politics as spiritual warfare, he encouraged authoritarian theocracy as an alternative to democracy.
Nick Fuentes is a Christian fascist. He is an actual neo-Nazi - he frequently says things like “Hitler was Awesome.” He is a white supremacist. He advocates for crucifixes in every home, school, and government office. He wants the United States to be a “Jesus’ country” that excludes atheists, Jews, and non-Christians. He has called for the death penalty for anyone who rejects Christian laws or undermines Christianity’s dominance.
Christian Fascists promote Obedience as a Religious Duty. They believe Hierarchy is God on top, rulers in the middle, people below.
Here’s a few Biblical passages that serve as examples:
1 Peter 2:13–17 – “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority…”
Titus 3:1 – “Remind the people to be subject to rulers and to be obedient”
Matthew 28:18–20
“Jesus said, ‘go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’”
The final question I will briefly address: is there any connection between Christian fascism and Zionism?
Yes. Many conservative evangelical leaders believe supporting Israel leads to an apocalyptic, end-of-times, rapture conclusion.
I hope I’ve provided a clear understanding of what Christian Fascism is, so that you can identify it and protect our nation and our from it.
